Dozens of people can “breathe easy” after a lung cancer screening
CHI Memorial’s Dr. Rob Headrick returns to give an update on the amount of lung screenings during Lung Cancer Awareness month.
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – CHI Memorial made several patients “breathe easy” last month with dozens of lung screenings during Lung Cancer Awareness month.
This year, the Breathe Easy coach traveled to Girls Preparatory School in Chattanooga to bring awareness of lung cancer. This is a creative way to educate a younger generation, while also sending students home to inform their family about the disease.
Dr. Headrick says they were able to screen 51 people which is equivalent to one scan every seven minutes for six hours straight.
Getting a lung screening is relatively quick and easy. The CT scan starts from the chin to the abdomen and takes 22 seconds to scan. Patients are able to “breathe easy” and receive results within the same day.
