Driver in custody after fleeing on foot from Whitfield deputies

WHITFIELD COUNTY — A driver was taken into custody on Monday, March 16 after fleeing from Whitfield County deputies in his vehicle and on foot following a traffic stop.
The Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) says deputies initiated a stop on a driver at mile marker 332 on I75 for stolen plates on a wrong vehicle.
The driver appeared to stop briefly but then fled in his vehicle, eventually crashing in Murray County on Highway 225 at Smyrna Church Road, the WCSO says.
After crashing, the driver fled on foot before being apprehended by Whitfield and Murray County deputies.
