Driver of single-vehicle crash on McCallie Avenue dies

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — The driver of a single-vehicle crash on the 2900 block of McCallie Avenue has died from their injuries.

The driver was identified as 28-year-old Marki Bonner.

According to the Chattanooga Police Department, on June 13, 2026 at 6:49 p.m., CPD’s DUI/Traffic Unit responded to a injury crash and subsequent vehicle fire in the 2900 block of McCallie Avenue.

CPD says the preliminary investigation indicates a Toyota Camry was traveling eastbound towards the McCallie Tunnel when the driver lost control.

The vehicle left the roadway, struck the opening wall of the McCallie tunnel, and caught fire.

Witnesses to the crash acted quickly and moved the driver away from the vehicle. Hamilton County EMS transported him to a local hospital with critical injuries.

On June 18, 2026 at 7:30 p.m., the Hamilton County Medical Examiner’s Office notified CPD that Bonner died.
