Driving Our Economy Forward: Brothers Bagel

Brothers Bagel started serving up freshly baked New York style bagels back in October.  Since then, crowds of customers have been lining up to get a meal.  Tonight, we take a look bakeshop’s success and how they continue to Drive our Economy Forward.

“Brothers Bagel is first and foremost it as a restaurant. For me personally, it’s a lot more than that you know.  There’s a really good community, a really good culture.  And I would say that’s a lot of kind of what defines I think this place,” said Michael Chambers, the General Manager at Brothers Bagel.
“On a broad scale you know Brothers Bagel is a breakfast and lunch restaurant, that primarily uses Bagels as our medium to create amazing sandwiches,” said Chambers.
“I really like making the pizza bagel on the rosemary garlic bagel.  Then we just make it with cheese and pepperoni and sauce.  But you can also make like any kind of sandwich with like meat and cheese and all the toppings.”
“Everything’s made here in house.  Everything is made the bagels are made fresh every morning.  Really proud of our ingredients; really proud of our processes.  We’ve been really blessed with the reception we’ve got in this Community,” said Chambers.
“Today I think I have 19 maybe 20.  By the end of the day, it’ll we’ll have had about 23 people in here working.   But yeah, on staff we have about 46-47, it’s still growing,” said Chambers.
“My wife Sarah and I we’ve been in Chattanooga for about 10 years now.  We came from Knoxville, and I came here for grad school and fell in love.  We have three little boys, and we wanted a family business for them to grow up in.  So, we looked at a few businesses and her families from Long Island and we just we’ve always missed Bagels here.  And we said I wonder if a bagel shop would do well you know. We went to New York learned how to make bagels and learned a little bit about the business and said I think we can do it!  Let’s try it out you know. It definitely was a leap of faith you know.  We felt like we were being led to this.   The doors were opening for us unexpectedly.  The Lord has really blessed us in being able to provide a food that some people didn’t know much about.  They’ve really enjoyed. Then we have a lot of transplants from you know up north, and south Florida that have come to Chattanooga.   This is something that’s part of their heritage; it’s part of like their childhood.  They’ve missed it so much.   They’ve just shown us so much love. We’re thinking about expansion, you know we don’t want to move too quickly.  But we do think about you know the community obviously has shown that it’s needed.  “We want to serve that community.  So, we think you know if we continue to grow, I think it’ll be best for Chattanooga .” said Josh Pratt, the Owner of Brothers Bagel.
