Driving Our Economy Forward: Girl Friday
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Who runs the world? Girls!
Some Chattanooga women are using their organizational skills to help fellow female business owners succeed.
Let’s see how Girl Friday is driving our economy forward.
“At Girl Friday, we offer personal assistant and executive assistant services, primarily for female business owners and entrepreneurs in the Chattanooga area,” said Anna Steere, Owner. “How it works is, once a potential client reaches out to us, I arrange a meeting to hear more about her needs and pain points, as well as the type and the amount of help she thinks she could use from Girl Friday. From there, I’ll think through the skills, interests and gifts and capacity of our Girl Friday subcontractors. If there seems to be a good fit, I’ll connect the client and the subcontractor, and start working on an agreement. We’re working with several clients at the moment. There’s an artist in town for whom we do e-mail and subscription management and database updates. There’s a lady who owns a co-working and event space, and we help manage the space from coordinating event rentals, to watering the plants, to moving furniture. And on the personal side, we’ve done grocery shopping and child transportation and shopping, in addition to home organization projects. Having a little bit of extra help gives these women more headspace.”
“Anna came from a trusted friend, knew that I was dreaming of starting a business,” said Katherine Mayfield, The Drawing Room/Mayday Consulting, LLC. “I was juggling my life as a mom, considering options in my career, and had a lot on my plate. So Anna stepped in, not only on The Drawing Room, but in my personal life to help me make sense of the madness. So she helped me clean my plate a bit, set out tasks, helped me pull in resources as I needed them, connected me with her trusted people, some of the subcontractors or resources, and helped filter through many times my thoughts, my dreams, and then put an action plan together. Anna fits into what I am aspiring to do on my personal, and as a mom, as a 44-year-old woman, as someone that aspires to be financially secure and give back to my community in a way that makes sense.”
“We figure out what the needs are, what the time arrangement needs to look like, whether it’s project based or an ongoing situation,” Steere said. “At Girl Friday, we like to help badass women get things done.”
