Driving Our Economy Forward: Legacy Box Academy
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Legacy Box is a local company specializing in preserving important moments on video tapes, film and photos. On Wednesday, we learned more about the company’s digitizing process and how they continue to help future generations succeed outside the classroom. It’s this week’s Driving Our Economy Forward.
Legacy Box started just three years ago.
People from all over the country send in their old media to Legacy Box so they can digitize it and send it back in a way they can currently watch.
Executive Principal Tony Donen said, “Legacy Box works with Hamilton County schools to provide not only a workplace learning environment for students but a place where they can also finish all their schoolwork.”
Legacy Box has a program where kids can work at the business a full day while also doing their academic work.
Donen also said, “And they have a time where they are actually out on the workplace floor, and they’re getting job skills and also paid for their experience while they’re out here. So, they get support both academically and, in a workplace, setting to learn those skills necessary to be successful once they get beyond high school.”
A Legacy Box employee, Tanijha Cosby says, “So it helped me be more responsible, take ownership and stuff like that and just teach me about different stuff. I like it.”
Another employee, Ha’Rhiya Bennett says, “Yes. Always a surprise, because it just be different stuff in each box. I like that it’s like so many different things that get sent in. it really never gets boring.”
