Driving Our Economy Forward: Lookout Lavender Farm

RISING FAWN, Ga. (WDEF) – We all need to escape stress.  This week, we are learning about Lookout Lavender Farm in Rising Fawn Georgia.  For years the business has provided products with calming properties.

They also provide educational opportunities through their lavender 101 classes.  Take a look at how the farm continues to drive our economy forward.

“The concept of Lookout Lavender is we have a field, or we have four fields here with about 1100 plants of lavender. And we have both culinary and aromatic varieties. I think we have about a dozen varieties out here. And we invite the public during the month of June, to come and pick lavender, and picnic, and enjoy their time here on Lookout Mountain,” co-owner Alice Marrin said.

Marrin added, “We get a lot of families. We get girlfriends, we’ve had groups of girlfriends make it a girl’s trip. We have couples. We’ve got an engagement happening here on Saturday night. It’s whatever you want it to be. We just provide the backdrop, the setting.”

“One thing we were after as we approached retirement, finding our special place that we could look forward to retiring to. And we really felt like we were mountain people,” co-owner Bill Marrin said. “We wanted to be mountain top if we could. And we discovered Lookout Mountain. While looking at our options up here, we discovered a very, very rustic location, which is where we are today. And now, with the addition of lavender, it’s become something that’s … really special and something we love sharing with all that would like to come and see. For those of you that are looking for a special night out with your spouse, perhaps a special night out with girlfriends.”
