Driving Our Economy Forward: One Off Robotics
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — From 3D printing to automation, robots are the future.
It’s how One Off Robotics is driving our economy forward.
“One-Off Robotics builds robotic based carving machines and robotic based 3D printers, as well as custom robotic systems,” said Tony DiSanto, co-founder. “Our systems right now are replacing traditional machines that are typically much larger, kind of clunky, so we use the flexibility of the robot arm, the reliability of the robot arm, and the relatively low cost to compete with larger kind of older machines.”
DiSanto says robots are very precise.
“It’s also very reliable,” he said. “It was built to run for hundreds of thousands of hours in automotive factories. We don’t install robots in automotive factories, it’s not our goal to. We get to use this very robust platform to either make a machine that can carve foam molds, or make a machine that can 3D print any number of metal parts, polymer parts, things like that. We have built a machine that can trim dental aligners, which is also kind of a Tennessee focused business. There’s a lot of companies in Tennessee that manufacture dental aligners (the clear plastic dental aligners). That’s one of the products that we’re excited about.”
“We’ve been around just over four years now,” said Nick Johnson, CEO. “We make it much easier to take a digital model of what you want to make, and then we pass that into the software, and the robot does the fabrication. We’re eliminating the need for the cad guy, the cam guy, the robotics technician expert, and we allow the clients to really focus on what they care about most, which is their parts.”
Johnson says One Off Robotics is also a great place to work.
“I think one of the core focuses for One Off Robotics is really creating a great culture and environment for people to work at,” he said. “Being that we get to do such exciting and creative work, we’re really focused on employee happiness, and great satisfaction at work.”
