Driving our Economy Forward: Suck Creek Cycle
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) –Suck Creek Cycle has been serving Chattanooga for nearly 30 years. From repairs to gear and everything in between the company makes sure each customer can find the bike that’s right for them. Through Suck Creek Cycle’s dedication and knowledge, they continue to drive our economy forward.
Owner Michael Skyles says. “It’s a bicycle shop predominantly a mountain bike bicycle shop, along with full service of said mountain bikes.”
Skyles continues, “Been here now for 25 years, started right at the end of 98 down at second Market Street which was a disaster. But we made it anyway. So, we’ve been nomadic since then, but we’ve made it up here to the corner of bell and black street. And I think we’re going to stay here now.”
“I started riding bikes when I was a kid my brothers and I we just loved wheels and them.
The sport of bicycle Motocross started in the mid 70s here in in Chattanooga. I raced in the first race in Chattanooga out in Middle Valley ball fields out by the airport out there. And I won the first race. And it I’ve just been in it ever since. I’ve never done anything else. And I happen to be fortunate enough to get to do that and it shaped my life.”
Austin Leavell with Suck Creek Cycle says, “Some people will ride a bike until every bolt is loose and everything needs to be replaced. And some people wash their bike every time they ride it pretty much. And you can tell when they bring it in. And sometimes I’m like… you’ve taken care of this thing.”
I feel like here at Suck Greek Cycle the thing we try to do is have conversations with our customers.
Skyles went on to say not try to sell somebody something but to educate them, help them discover the bike that’s right for them. For me it the experience after the purchase is most important. I want them to enjoy the bike. It’s something you can do all your life. It’s a lifetime activity. Families do it together. I just love them. Now you know what I’ve been trying to hide but I’m going to invite you back. Suck Creek Cycle corner of bell and black street, come see us. Bikes and some friendly advice.”
