Driving Our Economy Forward: The Historic
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — From parties to weddings, The Historic venue is bringing both elegance and history to Chattanooga’s Southside.
It’s even giving the area a financial boost from these special events.
Let’s see how The Historic is driving our economy forward.
“The building was built in 1904,” said Brenna Caillat, Venue Manager. “When it was built, it was built to be an Episcopal church. It would have been like the early ’40s to the early ’70s. It was New Hope Baptist Church and has been a wedding venue since about 2011, 2012. We took over in 2021. We rebranded as The Historic a few months ago.”
“We do the same wedding venue type of things, weddings. But we’re also trying to start doing corporate events, parties. We’ve added a lot onto it, so there’s a lot of different options for anyone that comes to use the space,” Caillat said.
“The way you use this space is very personalized as well,” she said. “This space can be used as a cocktail hour, or for a small ceremony. That space is perfect for putting your food. You got the cake nook. And then it just opens up this whole area which fits 250. Most people think that this is just an elevator or a storage closet. This is actually the door to our speak easy. The speak easy before was just an empty basement unfinished. But now what we have done is completely renovate from top to bottom. We have a fully functioning bar. Plenty of seating at the bar.
There’s also a game room.
“And then there also is plenty of extra seating we call this space, ‘the parlor.'”
“I just see it continuing to grow and become something that people realize we can use this for so many things,” Caillat said. “You can call me at 423-805-8924, which is posted on Google, and you can also e-mail me at Brenna@thehistoricchattanooga.com. You can go to our website, thehistoricchattanooga.com and go to the contact page and fill out a contact sheet. Whatever is easiest.”
