Drug bust leads to 40 grams of fentanyl seized

SWEETWATER — A drug bust in the City of Sweetwater with agents from the Tenth Judicial District Drug Task Force has led to the seizure of drugs and a loaded firearm.

On February 23, agents executed a probation search at a residence pursuing an investigation into fentanyl being trafficked into the Tenth Judicial District, Sheriff Tommy Jones said.

Agents recovered approximately 40 grams of fentanyl, which has an estimated street value of $8,000.

They also recovered a loaded firearm and items commonly associated with the distribution of illegal narcotics, including digital scales and cut baggies, Jones continued.

One individual was taken into custody without incident.

The investigation remains ongoing.
