Ducks unlimited hosted its Great Outdoor Festival
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The Chattanooga chapter of Ducks Unlimited hosted its Great Outdoor Festival at Camp Jordan, giving children the opportunity to learn about wildlife conservation and the importance of protecting local habitats.
The event was designed specifically for youth, with hands on activities that introduced them to the outdoors while teaching conservation principles and responsible stewardship of wildlife.
Chairman Chris York said educating children is one of the organization’s highest priorities because they are the future of conservation.
“Children are the future of conservation. They’re the future of the hunting tradition. My grandfather took me hunting and fishing and got me interested in the outdoors. Some of my best memories came from those experiences, and we’d like to see kids experience the same thing in their future.”
While children participated in educational activities throughout the day, adults had the opportunity to take part in a silent auction.
Organizers said all proceeds from the auction will go directly back into Ducks Unlimited’s educational festivals and conservation programs that are held throughout the year, helping continue its mission of inspiring the next generation of outdoor enthusiasts and conservationists.
