Dunlap Christmas Day Pursuit Leads to Multiple Charges

DUNLAP, Tenn. — A man has been charged following a vehicle and foot pursuit in Dunlap on Christmas Day.

On December 25 around 2 p.m., Dunlap Police Officers attempted to stop a white Ford F-150 on Highway 28.

The vehicle was occupied by Jared Keith Welch, who had active warrants out of Sequatchie County and was also driving on a suspended license, according to the Dunlap Police Department.

A pursuit ensured after Welch refused to stop for officers.

The pursuit continued onto Highway 127 in the Kell Loop area until Welch turned onto a dirt road and drove through a cattle gate.

Welch fled on foot after crashing the vehicle.

A foot pursuit ensued and Welch was subsequently taken into custody.

He is charged with the following:

  • 3 counts of Felony Evading Arrest
  • Vandalism
  • Possession of Stolen Property
  • Driving on a Suspended Driver’s License
