Dunlap’s Cookie Jar Cafe burns due to electrical fire

UPDATE:

The cause of the fire was electrical issues, according to the owner of the Cookie Jar Café, Sue Ann Lockhart.

They say it was not an arson.


EARLIER:

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Early Sunday morning the Dunlap Fire Department received word of the Cookie Jar Café up in flames.

The first officials that arrived on scene noted that there was smoke coming from the roof.

Dunlap Engines 1, 3, and 5; Tanker 1, Rescue 2, and Chief 1 responded to the scene, and immediately began an interior attack of the fire.

Due to the complexity of the fire, and water supply additional assistance was requested.

At the request of the owners and District Attorney General Courtney Lynch, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Arson Section responded to oversee the Fire investigation. Some personnel remain on scene as part of that investigation.
