Early Voting ends Thursday in Tennessee
HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF)-As Election Day is only 5 days away. Voters in both Bradley and Hamilton County showed up in big numbers on the last day of early voting in Tennessee.
“Everyone is lingering literally on what’s about to take place in our nation, regardless of what side of the aisle you stand on. I think that we’re at a place where we have to stand up and make a decision,” said Bartlee Norton, Voter.
Through the 11 day cycle of early voting, nearly two million voters have cast their ballots in the Volunteer State. .
Brenda Pickett believes it is important that everyone exercise their right to vote.
“I feel like, if you don’t vote, you can’t complain. I have one vote, and I am going to cast my vote for the person I choose. And that does not mean that I am right or I am wrong. It is just means everyone has an opportunity, and as American citizens, we are fortunate to have that right,” said Pickett.
According to the Bradley County Election Commission, more than 36-thousand voters showed up for early voting.
Ethel Mullis, says casting a vote is worth it.
“I have lived 90 years in this wonderful country. And It is worth it, just do your thing, you know what it is. Go cast your vote,” said Mullis.
Gordon Locke encourages everyone to get out and vote.
“This is a great rate that we have as American citizens and it is a wonderful opportunity to voice your opinion on who you want to represent you,” said Locke.
The Bradley County Absentee Board will convene on Monday at 10 am to count the absentee ballots.
