East Hamilton Middle School student arrested after weapon found

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) —  A student at East Hamilton Middle School was arrested after a gun was recovered from their locker.

On September 3, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., East Hamilton Middle School administration received a tip that a student had brought a weapon with them to school.

Administration searched the student’s locker and found two backpacks.

One backpack contained a Beretta 9 millimeter semi-automatic pistol with no magazine and a loaded 9 millimeter magazine for a Glock semi-automatic pistol.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office reported the student was arrested and taken to the Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center.

The student is currently being charged with Carrying Weapons on School Property and Unlawful Carrying or Possession of a Firearm.
