East Hamilton’s Jeremiah Flemmons Excited to Sign With Austin Peay
Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) Six East Hamilton Hurricanes signed to play college football last week. At top billing was receiver Jeremiah Flemmons, who heads to Austin Peay. News 12’s Angela Moryan tells us just how special Flemmons has been for the Canes.
East Ham’s Jeremiah Flemmons has done it all for the Hurricanes. Receiver, quarterback, defensive back — you name it, he’s played it.
Said head coach Grant Reynolds: “Like, to play any position we put him at. Knowing he’s going to be a division I signee but yet still caring enough about the high school that he’s at to sacrifice for his program. That just means a whole lot to us.”
Even with playing multiple positions, Flemmons signed at receiver. With his 4-5 speed, Flemmons raced to over 12-hundred yards this year alone.
Said Flemmons: “This year, I had a lot more on my back because I had something to prove to the people around me in the city of Chattanooga. I feel like just every play I was locked in, and I had to be explosive as possible to make the big plays.”
Said Reynolds: “Jeremiah was blessed with a lot of God-given talent, but he didn’t just rest on that. Jeremiah worked in the weight room every day. He commited to being there in the weight room, being there in practice. I think by him taking that talent and really pushing it, I think he reached his full potential.”
Flemmons takes his talents to Austin Peay next year — another step closer to his dream of playing in the NFL.
Said Flemmons: “This is a bigger step to reaching that goal because Austin Peay does have a lot of scouts coming through to watch their practices and stuff so I feel like that’s giving me a chance to go to the next level.”
Said Reynolds: “It will be very difficult to replace a young man like Jeremiah because he brought so much to the table. His skill set is so good at whatever position he’s playing, and his attitude is just electric, so that’s going to be hard to replace.”
Said Flemmons: “When I was little, I used to think this game was just a game in general, and then as I got older, I started to realize that it’s more than just a game. It’s brotherhood. You start becoming family with the players and with your coaches, and it just becomes a lot stronger than that. That’s where I’m at mentally with it, and I love this game.”
