East Lake Academy evacuates Friday morning during small fire
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Chattanooga authorities are investigating after a small fire broke out at East Lake Academy of Fine Arts.
The fire happened just after 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the school on East 34th Street.
School officials subsequently evacuated the entire school until firefighters deemed it safe for students to return.
The fire was in the second-floor boys’ bathroom, Chattanooga firefighters said.
A school resource officers extinguished the fire, and the Chattanooga Fire Department ventilated the building.
One teacher suffered from smoke inhalation but denied treatment. But no one else was injured.
Now, law enforcement is investigating to determine what caused the fire.
