East Ridge City Leaders Decide on Fire Station Relocation

EAST RIDGE, TN (WDEF) – Time is running out for East Ridge commissioners to decide on where they want to relocate Fire Station #2.

It’s currently at the site where Bass Pro Shop will be built.

So, now they’re tying to figure out if it’s more cost effective to build a new station at the intersection of Ringgold and Scruggs Roads, or move the current building to a different location, like Camp Jordan.

The city must be off the old property by February 1st.

Andrew Hyatt, the East Ridge City Manager, says, "We want to stay on the east side of Interstate 75 because of the response time and to help with our ISO rating, which is currently a 2. So, we want to look in that area."

City leaders say no matter where the new station is located, an addition is planned to make room for a new ladder truck.
