East Ridge Installs Prescription Drug Drop Off

East Ridge, TN (WDEF) – East Ridge police have a new option for disposing of your old prescriptions at home.

Just flushing them is dangerous for the water supply or landfills.

The Sheriff’s Department has events twice a year to collect them, but now East Ridge residents don’t have to wait that long.

Just dump them in a bin at the Police Department on Ringgold Road.

Chief James Reed says  “This drop off station was made possible by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation as well as the Hamilton County Coalition. This will allow citizens to anonymously drop off any unused or expired medication during the week instead of waiting until the Drug Take-back program occurs, which is only twice a year.”

The drop off station is at the East Ridge Police Department, located at 4214 Ringgold Road, Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m., except on holidays.

All expired or unused medication is accepted with the exception of sharps or syringes/needles.
