East Ridge police arrest suspect who they say rammed police car

EAST RIDGE, Tenn. (WDEF) — East Ridge police have arrested a man who they say rammed into a police vehicle near the end of February.

The East Ridge Police Department (ERPD) said officers have arrested 29-year-old Edward Dewayne Duckett.

Authorities said the incident happened on February 27. They explained that officers were alerted to a stolen vehicle with a license plate reader at Camp Jordan Parkway and Ringgold Road.

Officers tried to stop the suspect, but ERPD said he “taunted police” and drove toward officers, nearly striking one of them.

The police department said detectives identified Duckett as the suspect after an investigation.

Authorities then arrested Duckett on Thursday, March 7.

He faces the following charges.

  • Aggravated assault on police – 2 counts
  • Felony reckless endangerment
  • Felony evading arrest
  • Theft over $10,000
