Eating Disorders Awareness Week is February 26 to March 3

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Eating Disorders Awareness Week is February 26 to March 3.
Because eating disorders thrive in shame and isolation, they often go undetected.
Individuals who have access to and receive appropriate care often fully recover, yet many individuals suffering from eating disorders do not receive the treatment they need.
For this reason, advocacy and education through events such as Eating Disorders Awareness Week is often crucial for saving lives.
“So basically, eating disorders awareness week is about getting people in the know about the problem, and spreading awareness about eating disorders because there is a lot of misinformation out there. People don’t know the facts or understand the severity of eating disorders and if you are struggling with them, we are in Chattanooga and you can reach out to us,” said Eddie Bramlett.
If you or a loved one are struggling with disordered eating habits, local help is available.
Focus Treatment Centers and other care facilities provide complimentary screenings to determine the appropriate level of care. Call 423-308-2560 to schedule a confidential assessment.
