Educators hosts State of Youth event in February
CHATTANOOGA,Tenn. (WDEF)- Chattanooga and Midtown Community is hosting the annual State of the youth address next month.
Organizers have put on this event for more than 8 years.
Chattanooga and Midtown Community is gearing the state of youth address towards college education.
“It’s more of a learning journey and exposure from something that is possibly different, and when you see young people who look like you, who think differently from you, that are doing great, it expands your mind and gives you the opportunity to change what it is that you are seeing on your day to day basis,” said Chris Sands, Executive Director for Community Safety.
Youth will be able to discuss various issues within the community.
“We have got students who we want to make sure they understand the opportunities that lie before them. So this is our chance to bring them together with a college tour talk about scholarship opportunities, and make sure they see what is ahead of them.” said Dr. Tiffany Earvin, Midtown Learning Community Superintendent
The State of the Youth Address will take place February 6th at UTC starting at 9:30 a-m.
