Election Profile: Erskine Oglesby District 7
Early voting started last week for Chattanooga’s run off elections.
As we lead up to election day news 12 now sits down with each candidate vying for a city council seat.
Erskine Oglesby hopes to elected in district 7
“Everything we did to get to this runoff election we are stepping it up times 25.”
Erskine Oglesby has built a career out of community development, and he hopes to continue that work on city the council.
“My full primary focus is going to be economic development, spreading that equity that currently exists in downtown distract 7 and just expanding out into those areas that have not seen economic development recently,” said Oglesby.
His campaign has 4 main focuses, economic development, revitalization of neighborhoods, developing stronger you and family programming, and focusing on community policemen.
“District 7 is the most diverse district in our city, and it encompasses the best and some of the challenges that need to be dealt with immediately, and I’m going to be that city council person that makes that happen.”
Oglesby describes himself as passionate and honest and wants voters to hold him accountable….
“I’m going to be there, present and accountable. I’m going to be listening to what your concerns are, and we are going to have honest discussions on how we are going to move this district forward.”
