Elementary school student recognized after alerting an adult to possible school fire

The Scottsboro Fire Department is calling a local Elementary schooler a hero.

They presented Dash Duncan with a Fire Safety Hero award last night.

Dash noticed smoke in the bathroom at Nelson Primary School and quickly told his teacher.

Fire officials say school officials were able to deal with the situation quickly and safely because of Dash’s alert.

They say that Dash’s actions show us that even small actions can make a big difference.
