EMT stabbed on the job overnight in Bradley County

CLEVELAND, Tenn. (WDEF) – A Bradley County EMT was stabbed on a call overnight at Lee University.

They got the call around two in the morning to evaluate a vagrant on the grounds of the university.

While they were talking to him about his medical state, the man pulled a knife and stabbed one of the first responders in the neck.

The knife barely missed the carotid artery.

The wound required 14 stitches, but the medical worker returned to work to finish the shift.

The suspect was taken into custody by law enforcement.

Emergency Management Spokesperson Dr. Lindsay L. Hathcock Jr. concluded “Our community is indeed blessed with dedicated professional employees.”
