Entrepreneur joins us with life saving tech for National CPR Week
Growing up some of my favorite action movies starred Bruce Willis and when asked why he was the one always saving the world he simply responded “because some days there’s no one else around to be that guy.” Felicia Jackson is a hero in her own right, but she’s also an entrepreneur that invented some life saving tech. Seeing that the first week of June is known nationally as CPR awareness week, we felt like the inventor of CPR Wrap was an appropriate guest.
According to Felicia, she invented the CPR Wrap because of a personal story. “So my story began several years ago when my children were very young. We were driving and when I turned back to check on my baby I noticed that he was choking. I’m CPR certified, trained every yea,r worked in a hospital sure but when I saw my baby was unable to breathe all of that training went out the window. So I jump into Mama mode and I take my baby out of the car I look at him couldn’t do anything but my husband who was with me actually saved his life.”
That moment of panic, caused her to leave her career as a Physical Therapist Assistant and invent a device to remove the panic in the event of an emergency.
“CPR Wrap is an all-in-one inclusive CPR template that allows anyone trained or untrained to perform CPR immediately while help arrives,” says Felicia.
The device has instructions in English and Spanish, comes with a one way valve in case you need to perform rescue breathing, and once it’s laid out has very specific instructions – including CALL 9-1-1! That is the first step that people often forget in a moment of panic.
“So when you put the product on the victim it has visual cues that shows you exactly where to do compressions. It has instructions that are in Spanish and English they come standard right on the template that walks you through the steps of CPR. It’s very simple to read it’s very easy to read so literally anybody trained or untrained could just jump in and potentially Save a Life with this device.”
The devices are available in both adult, child and now canine versions for our furry friends. You can find them on Amazon or at her website.
Does the device have any real-world experience or application?
“We were informed that it has saved two lives thus far thus far and you’re just informed of that so there could be more,” says Jackson.
While Felicia built the device with the hope it would help someone in a life saving situation, she also hopes no one ever has to use it. If you have used it to save a life, she encourages you to call and share your story with her.
