EPB Fiber Optics Network celebrates milestone
Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) – EPB Fiber Optics Network celebrated their sixth birthday Thursday and reached a milestone.
An independent study shows the city owned utility’s fiber optic infrastructure has generated 800-million dollars to 1.3 billion dollars in economic benefits.
It has created between 2800 and 5200 new jobs.
The study also shows that realized benefits have exceeded by at least 27-percent.
J.Ed Marston, EPB Marketing Vice President said, "When we say customers, we mean both electric customers who benefit from the Fiber Optic Network, whether they take any fiber services or not, because we utilize it for our smart grid, which helps us reduce power outage minutes for our customers by a substantial amount."
EPB Fiber Optics serves more than 75,000 homes and businesses.
