EPB offers free Wi-Fi for qualifying HCS families
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — EPB partnered with Hamilton County Schools to aid students with resources so they can be successful.
Having internet and Wi-Fi can encourage students to push forward by creating future opportunities.
HCS Ed Connect provides at-home, no-cost, high-speed internet for qualifying families whose children are enrolled in Hamilton County Schools.
“Internet really isn’t a luxury anymore. It’s a necessity. Especially for kids who are learning so they can be able to do homework… their parents can keep up with what they’re working on. But unfortunately, it’s not affordable for everyone,” EPB Public Relations Specialist Sophie Moore said.
With Ed Connect, EPB has offered free installation for families in the HCS coverage area.
Around 16,000 students are enrolled in the program. Including everyone in the home, this affects closer to 28,000 people.
It is a voluntary service, so families must contact their school affiliate or EPB for installation.
