EPB Quantum Brings Cutting-Edge Power Grid Technology to Chattanooga
Chattanooga, TN (WDEF)Chattanooga is once again positioning itself at the forefront of technological innovation. EPB Quantum has announced an expansion of its partnership with Oak Ridge National Laboratory, IonQ, and NVIDIA to tackle one of the nation’s most pressing challenges: strengthening and modernizing the power grid.
EPB and Oak Ridge have a long history of collaboration, and leaders say this new partnership represents a significant leap forward for the future of energy in America. The initiative will bring a commercial quantum computer to Chattanooga, leveraging EPB’s existing quantum network to enhance grid optimization and reliability.
Janet Rehberg, President of EPB Strategic Initiatives, emphasized the significance of the project: “Chattanooga was chosen for this entire project because of EPB’s commercial quantum network. We are adding a quantum computer through IonQ, and with our partnership with Oak Ridge, they’re integrating NVIDIA technology into our quantum center. This makes the EPB Quantum Center truly unique. The quantum computer will be operational early next year.”
This development marks an exciting chapter for Chattanooga, highlighting the city’s growing role as a hub for cutting-edge energy technology and quantum computing research.
