EPB Says CEO Was Misquoted

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WDEF-TV) — The city of Chattanooga and the Electric Power Board are locked in a disagreement about billing practices.

Although the city owns the utility, there’s a question of how much EPB may owe because of faulty accounting and mis-classification of some street lights.
A private accounting firm and the city auditor disagree on the exact figure, but EPB issued a statement saying CEO Harold DePriest was misquoted in a published report.

JOHN PLESS, EPB SPOKESMAN "The important message is this—EPB never said that they owed the city of Chattanooga 1.2 million dollars. And you know when all the facts are taken into account with this matter, we believe it will all amount to what’s basically called a "wash."

EPB maintains that after all the numbers are crunched, the city will find it owes the electric company a similar amount for services rendered.
