EPB to add EV charging stations to East Ridge
EAST RIDGE, Tenn. (WDEF) — EPB will soon be installing electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in East Ridge, the company announced on Wednesday.
EPB said they are installing two fast chargers, each having two charging ports, at their East Ridge substation. It will be located at the corner of Camp Jordan Parkway and Lenora Road.
The company said this location is convenient for both residents and travelers passing through Chattanooga. The charging stations are near several businesses and restaurants, including Topgolf and Bass Pro Shops.
This EV charging station will charge up to four cars at once.
Cars that use these chargers will receive up to 80% charge in 40 minutes, according to EPB.
EPB also said they will start installing the charging stations in early 2024, and they expect to be finished by August 2024.
“East Ridge has experienced tremendous growth and, with that, increased interest in businesses and activities,” said East Ridge Mayor Brian Williams. “As we continue to make East Ridge a special place to live, work and play, it’s critical to meet the transportation needs of the people who choose our community. Thank you to EPB for considering our city as an important piece of our state’s energy infrastructure.”
The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation and TVA’s Fast Charge TN Network provided grants for this installation. Their goal is to “have fast-charging stations at least every 50 miles along Tennessee’s interstates and major highways,” EPB said.
