EPB Warns About Scams
Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) EPB officials warn their customers to be on alert for scams.
They say scammers use various tactics.
Recently EPB customers say they’ve gotten computer pop-up messages claiming to be from the utility.
The message tells the customer to call a number.
When EPB customers call the number, they’re told their account is past due and services will be cut off if immediate payment is not made.
EPB officials say they NEVER use pop-up messages on the web.
They also do not require immediate payment with reloadable debit cards.
If you get a pop-up message like that, a door-to-door solicitation for money, or suspicious calls, contact EPB at 423-648-1372.
