EPB working on power outage in Signal Mountain

SIGNAL, MOUNTAIN, Tennessee (WDEF)- A power outage on Kell Road in Signal Mountain was caused by fallen trees from high wind from the early morning storms.

EPB’s Grant Carriker said when a power outage occurs EPB and others work together to be able to get power on as quickly and safely as possible, particularly with how cold it is.

He said they can respond to high-risk places quickly through the help of the smart grid team and reports of outages.

He said teamwork in situations like these is critical.

“It’s cold out. They’re working with energized lines at times. Environmental aspects and it’s a lot of teamwork that goes into putting lines back up and rebooting the system. Between that and communication with our smart grid operators and our fiber teams, it’s an all-out effort for EPB when this type of storm rolls through,” said Carriker.
