Erlanger nearing deal to move into North Carolina

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Erlanger Health Systems has a tentative deal to buy the Murphy Medical Center in North Carolina.

The next step requires approval from the boards of both hospitals.

That could come next week.

The Murphy Medical board votes next Tuesday, with Erlanger voting next Thursday.

If approved, Erlanger would take over the Murphy facility in April.

This would be Erlanger’s first expansion out of the Chattanooga/ North Georgia corridor.
