ESPN’s Tom Hart Relives His Call of David Jean Baptiste’s Buzzer Beater For the Mocs

Tampa, FL-(WDEF-TV) ESPN’s Tom Hart is calling games in the SEC basketball tournament. He was also on the mike for David Jean Baptiste’s buzzer beater Monday night that gave the Chattanooga Mocs the SoCon title.

Said Hart: “The shot was right in front of our broadcast location. I didn’t think it was going in. It wasn’t a straight up jump shot. It was a heave from 40 something feet. He’s off balance. And then I did something that I’ve never done before. I literally jumped out of my seat. I was so excited. And I was working with Randolph Childress who played in the ACC. Played in the NBA. The game ends. Randolph takes his head set off. We both step back, and he says I’ve never seen a better game in my life. I’m like wait a second. You’ve seen thousands of games, and he said no, that was the best game hands down I’ve ever seen. If he hits that shot in December. Good for him. And it’s going to make the highlight reels. But it’s not going to live forever. Now he does this. And I don’t think we are going to see a better shot through the rest of conference tournaments and the rest of March madness.”
