Ethan Meadows a Scoring Machine For Meigs Co
Decatur, TN-(WDEF-TV) If you go to a Meigs County football game, you’ll see the Tigers number seven streaking up and down the field. It seems quarterback Ethan Meadows is good for maybe three, four, or five touchdowns a game. At least News 12’s Brian Armstrong slowed him down long enough for an interview.
Said head coach Tommy Bunch: “We ran a quarterback counter and he took it 80 yards for the touchdown. And I thought, man, if that is a symbolic of what this season is going to be like, then it’s going to be good.”
Meigs County quarterback, Ethan Meadows can seemingly make a big play out of nowhere.
Said Bunch: “He’s a very special young man. he is
just so talented, uh, athletically, and he’s just got such a competitive mindset. Uh, he’s a really fun player to coach and he makes us look good. A lot of times.
Those big plays have led to Meg’s being undefeated so far this season, but don’t tell Meadows. He’s the reason why, because he won’t accept the praise.
Said Meadows: “I’m able to do that because of my linemen and my wide receivers and my running backs that are all blocking for me. If you watch us, every single one of our players give full effort every single play.”
Said Bunch: “He understands that it’s not a one man show, that his success is dependent upon the success of his teammates.”
Said Meadows: :But he still takes joy in making a big play, or in last week’s game, a big hit. That was amazing. That guy was talking a lot, so it felt real nice to run him over.”
But after a hit like that, Meadows says he comes from a family of talented athletes, so he just makes plays the rest of his family would make.
Said Meadows:”In my household, I’ve had a lot of great athletes and I’ve grown up with a lot of great athletes. So whenever, whenever something like that happens, I’m like, yeah, they, they did that a lot too.
All that adds to Meigs County football players willing to give their all to support one another.
Said Bunch: “The team would lay it all on the line for him every Friday night because they know he’s going to do the same for them. And so it’s really just created a very special bond on our team, uh, where they just play so hard for each other.”
