Ex-lawyer gets 10 years on latest child exploitation conviction

HARRIMAN, Tennessee (WDEF) – A former lawyer has been sentenced for child exploitation in East Tennessee.

67 year old Kent Lowery Booher is a disbarred criminal defense attorney from Harriman.

He was already a convicted sex offender when he was convicted last year after being caught in a sting involving an underage girl.

Booher was convicted of statutory rape in 2014, caught in another sting involving a 16 year old girl, numerous sex offender registry violations and he even got shot at once by an angry woman.

This time, he thought he was communicating by phone and Facebook with a 14 year old girl.

But when he showed up to have sex with her, he was met by agents instead.

Booher was also convicted of sexual exploitation of a 15 year old girl from 2012-2013.

Last week, a federal judge gave him 10 years in federal prison.

“The lengthy sentence given by the Judge displays the gravity of crimes committed against children and the punishments those who commit them will face,” said United States Attorney Francis M. Hamilton III.

“It is our duty to protect the most vulnerable in our society.”
