Expect some “Hearts and Hisses” at the Chattanooga Zoo this weekend!

The Chattanooga Zoo’s Jake Cash, Sam Sanders, and Indigo Montoya the snake joins News 12’s Amelia Greer to preview the upcoming Valentine’s Day themed event “Hearts and Hisses.”

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – For those looking for a late Valentine’s Day celebration, the Chattanooga Zoo has the perfect date set up with their “Hearts and Hisses” event.

Included with standard admission on February 15, guests will get to do crafts, participate in a zoo wide scavenger hunt, hear special presentations from keepers, and learn more about the unique animal pairings and bonds in the zoo. Guests will learn about the great conservation work the zoo is doing with breeding and developing species survival plans.

To pair with the event preview, Jake Cash and Sam Sanders of The Chattanooga Zoo brought their slithery friend, Indigo Montoya. Don’t worry, the snake will not seek revenge for the death of his father, but he will be the special star for the “I Heart Eastern Indigo Snake Day” which will be a smaller event on the same day as “Hearts and Hisses.” Indigo’s special day is to celebrate conservation awareness and safe programs for the species on the verge of extinction. The Indigo snake is known to eat pests, rodents, and “bad” snakes, so the day highlights the importance of the snake in the ecosystem.

For members, the admission and events are free as it is included in the membership.
