Fall Allergies Create Seasonal Struggles

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – As fall settles in, allergy season reaches one of its most intense peaks of the year.

Ragweed pollen, mold from damp leaves, and shifting weather patterns combine to create widespread symptoms for millions of Americans.

Sneezing, congestion, itchy eyes, and fatigue are among the most common complaints, with September ranking as one of the most challenging months for allergy sufferers.

These seasonal triggers do not stop at allergies.

For more than 22 million adults in the U.S. living with asthma, the same allergens can inflame airways and increase the risk of a serious attack.

The third week of September, often called Peak Week, consistently records the highest asthma hospitalizations of the year.

Doctors urge patients to take preventive steps, such as limiting outdoor activity on high-allergen days, keeping windows closed, and meeting with a physician to review treatment plans.

Proactive care can help reduce complications and keep both allergy and asthma symptoms under control throughout the season.
