Family members remember shooting victim
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Chattanooga Police and family members of the city’s latest homicide victim want answers. They are encouraging witnesses to come forward.
Sharee James remembers her brother Sharone, as a funny and caring young man.
“He was definitely family oriented. He loved his family,” Sharee James said.
Sharone Porter was adopted and was curious to learn about where he came from.
“He longed for the reunification with his mom, with his birth mom. He lived for that. He loved mom as his mom, but he lived to be reunited with his mom. That didn’t happen and it is just sad,” James said.
Chattanooga Police say Sharone was shot and killed early Sunday morning across from Coyote Jacks. His brother Torrie was injured in the shooting.
“We are just glad that God gave us 22 years with him,” James said.
His family says Sharone was a great uncle and it was difficult to explain what happened to the kids.
“It is not easy because Sharone dealt with the kids in such a way that they loved him. He would wrestle with the boys and just love on the girls. They all loved him for that. He just had that spirit about himself that he was always trying to help the kids and just kind of nurture them,” James said.
Police are investigating the case and say they need witnesses to come forward.
“So we are asking if you were there if you saw something if you heard something or someone told you something, please call the Chattanooga police department’s homicide tip line,” said Sergeant Victor Miller, with the Chattanooga Police Department.
James says she won’t give up until she has answers.
“This is going to be my last deed for my baby brother and we are going to see this out,” James said.
