Fatal wreck involving tractor trailer and passenger cars shuts down I-24
UPDATE: Around 4:30 a.m. on December 10, a trooper was dispatched to a wreck on I-24 East in Dade County.
It was found a white Chevrolet Savana van was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes on I-24, according to GSP.
The Savana hit a white Volvo tractor-trailer head-on.
The tractor trailer was traveling eastbound on I-24.
The driver of the Savana van died on scene.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was taken to Erlanger Hospital with serious injuries, according to GSP.
Dade County Sheriff’s Office deputies received a BOLO report about the wrong-way driver but were unable to intercept him prior to the crash, according to GSP.
MARION COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) – A multi-vehicle wreck on I-24 Eastbound causes a shut down that could last several hours.
The crash was reported at 3:48 AM CT at mile marker 166.1, expanding from Marion County to Dade County, Georgia.
According to the Dade County Sheriff’s Office, there is a fatal accident involving a tractor trailer and several passenger cars at the 1 mile marker.
I-24 Eastbound is shut down. Use an alternate route and avoid the area.
