FBI: Mississippi sex offender traveled to Chattanooga to meet 10 month old
Charged with solicitation and attempted child rape
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – A registered sex offender from Mississippi has been charged with attempting to meet a young boy in Chattanooga for his birthday.
49-year-old Dennis Gaal of Picayune faces charges of attempted child rape and solicitation of a minor.
There was no actual young boy in the case.
Instead, an FBI officer posed online as someone who could procure a 10-month-old boy for Gaal.
In their communications, the investigator says Gaal admitted he was on the sex offender registry for molesting a two-year-old he babysat in 2000.
He would later say that he had molested three young boys, multiple times.
Gaal eventually agreed to travel to Chattanooga for his birthday this week to meet the child.
The arrest report says Gaal added “I can’t wait. This is looking to be the best trip I’ve ever taken.”
But when he checked into the local hotel, Gaal was arrested by police.
