Fentanyl Distribution Bust in Walker and Hamilton Counties

WALKER COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) — Law enforcement officers busted a suspected fentanyl-manufacturing setup in Chickamauga, according to the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force. They also busted a connected distribution in Hamilton County, Tennessee.

After obtaining two search warrants, the Walker County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team and the drug task force say they found a pill press, more than two pounds of powder fentanyl, over 1,000 suspected fentanyl pills, three pounds of marijuana and a large amount of cash.

The drug busts took place at 373 Rogers Rd and 797 Lail Rd. in Chickamauga, Georgia, the drug task force said.

They say the Hamilton County Narcotics Division and Hamilton County SWAT Team also found a trafficking amount of fentanyl and a firearm from a connected search warrant in East Ridge, Tennessee. The bust took place at 5314 Dupont St.

These incidents resulted in the arrest of George Albert Watkins III, who will be charged with trafficking fentanyl and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute in Georgia.

The Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force says they have made several arrests in the past few weeks. They say they have arrested 32 individuals with drug charges.

Overall, they have found and seized the following in recent weeks.

  • Three pounds of meth,
  • 21 pounds of marijuana,
  • two and a half pounds of fentanyl,
  • over 1,500 prescription pills,
  • 200 THC vape cartridges,
  • several grams of cocaine,
  • psilocybin (shrooms).
