‘Fiery and Competitive’ Jeremiah Wilson Coaching Mocs Defensive Backs

Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) New Mocs defensive backs coach Jeremiah Wilson looks younger than his players, but don’t let his looks fool you.
The Chattooga high school graduate has learned from some of the top coaches in the nation, and the Summerville, Georgia, native is ready to put that knowledge to use at UTC.

Joining the Mocs coaching staff may not be a true homecoming for Jeremiah Wilson, but it’s pretty close.
Said Wilson:”It has been a good experience to get back and be close to family members and a lot of friends I went to school with still in the area. It does feel like being back at home.”
Mocs head coach Tom Arth says Wilson is gung-ho for his first major on the field coaching job.
Said Arth:”You know he’s fiery too. He’s really competitive. It means a lot to him. He has got a lot of pride in his performance and his players performance, and that means everything to me. I’ve had a chance to talk with most everybody in the secondary. Just kind of casually hey, how’s Coach Wilson doing. They all love him. They absolutely love him.”
When Wilson was at Florida State, he worked for defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt, who’s now the head coach at Tennessee.
Said Wilson:”Similar background to myself. I was in high school making my way up when I met him. At the end of the day, he did a great job of teaching not only the players at FSU, but I was a sponge myself just soaking it all in.”
Reporter:”What would be your message to Vols fans about Coach Pruitt?”
Said Wilson:”I know he’s going to bring exactly what they’re looking for as far as the passion. He understands the expectations that go along with being at the University of Tennessee.”
And Wilson plans to bring that passion and expectations to his defensive backs.
Said Wilson:”If we continue to be detailed oriented and work on the fundamentals every day, we are all very excited about the future.”
