Fire Danger Advisory issued for Alabama
Ala. (WDEF) — The Alabama Forestry Commission (AFC) has issued a Statewide Fire Danger Advisory due to the lack of rain and high temperatures.
The AFC urges residents to refrain from burning until the advisory has passed, and to always obtain a permit for prescribed burns.
It is recommended to never leave a fire unattended until it is completely extinguished.
If burning in residential areas, be sure to have a water hose nearby to soak the burned debris piles thoroughly after burning.
While the advisory is active, the danger of embers from smoldering burn piles catching fire outside of the main burn area is increased.
The AFC will continue to monitor the situation, and will determine if further restrictions are required in the future.
