Fire Department shows off demolition of their old training tower

It will be replaced by a new, modern tower next year

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – The Chattanooga Fire Department is showing off progress on their new training tower.

The old structure was almost 50 years old and was becoming obsolete.

So demolition crews have torn it down and cleared the space to build a new tower.

The new building will go up outside the training facility on Amnicola Highway next spring.

They hope it will be ready by next fall.

The new tower will allow trainees to simulate fires in garages, balcony barbeques and high building rescues.

Firefighters from all over the region will train in it.
