Firefighters battle Rocky Face Mountain brush fire
Whitfield County, Georiga (WDEF) – Firefighters in Whitfield County continue to battle a blaze on Rocky Face Mountain.
The brush fire has been burning since Thursday.
It’s now about 250 acres and growing.
The Georgia Forestry Commission has about 50 people working to contain the fire, but it’s been extremely difficult.
They have to hike half of a mile into the fire uphill, and the terrain is very rocky and steep.
The Forestry Commission’s helicopter is also dropping water on the flames throughout the day.
Fortunately, no homes have been impacted.
Officials say it could be days, even weeks, before they have the fire completely out.
