Firefighters call for backup due to large Hixson house fire

HIXSON, Tenn. (WDEF) — Chattanooga firefighters had to call for extra help overnight while battling a house fire in Hixson.

The fire department received the call of a house fire around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday. The house that was on fire was located on the 1700 block of Colonial Shores Drive, CFD said.

First responders received reports that the back of the house was burning with flames coming through the roof. Upon arrival, firefighters realized those calls were accurate.

Firefighters began attacking the fire while also ensuring that everyone was out of the house.

CFD called a second alarm to bring in extra crews. Mutual aid partners also filled in at CFD fire halls.

Fire crews had the blaze under control by 2:46 a.m. They then returned inside the house to target hot spots.

Nobody was injured in the fire, according to the fire department.

They are now investigating to determine what caused the fire.
