Firefighters continue to make progress on containing Hamilton County wildfires

Hamilton County, Tenn. (WDEF) – According to the Tennessee Department of Agriculture and the Florida Forest Service working in Hamilton County, there are 3 wildfires active as of Saturday in the county.

Known as the Kimball Complex, officials say the Flipper Bend Fire is 979 acres and 100% contained; the Poe Road Fire is 712 acres and 95% contained; and the Mowbray Mountain Fire is 899 acres and 90% contained.

Officials say no structures are in danger at this time.

There are a total of 71 wildfires burning in the state of Tennessee.

Julie Allen with the Florida Forest Service says, “Despite the high winds today the firefighters made incredible progress today on all three wildfires. ”

Officials also remind residents that Governor Haslam’s burn ban for 51 counties includes Hamilton county and permits no open-air burning  such as campfires, burning brush, burning vegetation, household waste or construction debris.
